A brand new travel insurance operation has launched that targets gay men, lesbians and people living with HIV. GoGay Travel insurance has designed a low-cost bespoke travel insurance product that addresses the specific needs of the gay community.
Unlike many travel insurance policies, GoGay’s product recognises same-sex partners as equal, and in the event of illness or injury, partners can stay with each other and the costs will be covered. They would also pay the costs if a same sex partner became ill and the holiday had to be cancelled.
Many travel insurance policies discriminate against individuals on the grounds of their HIV status. GoGay Travel Insurance is different and considers HIV the same way as any other pre-existing condition.
The website has clear instructions setting out what you need to do to disclose any medical conditions including HIV and any personal difficulties can be discussed through their friendly call centre.
What’s more, they have ensured their pricing remains exceptionally low with annual cover (including ski cover) starting at £34.27 and single trip cover from as little as £4.44.
According to Christian Young, Chief Executive Officer of GoGay Travel insurance, “Many travel insurance companies are not mindful of the needs of the gay community and customers often find this out too late when they come to make a claim. We wanted to offer a competitively priced product that gay and lesbian travellers can trust when they most need it.
“I challenge anyone buying travel insurance to look at the fine print and our prices to compare what we offer with other companies!”
